 The Invitation

Beloved,

I'm gathering a small circle of women in a house on the Manukau Harbour, on the wild west coast of Auckland, where the Waitākere Ranges meet the sea. Gathering AyurMama students and graduates, doulas and birthworkers, and the women who feel called to this path from all over the world. Two nights, three days, in one big beautiful home.

We'll cook together and eat together. Annoint yourself in medicinal Ayurevedic oils as we embody the practices we so lovingly share with mothers, make spice blends you'll take home, sip rose chai and ceremonial cacao, and walk out the front door onto the beach. We'll have the conversations women in this work rarely get to have in person. And you'll receive Ayurvedic postpartum teachings from me face to face.

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, February is deep winter for you. Come down for a weekend of summer, and stay a little longer if you like. I would truly love to have you here.

The House: Te Whare Huia

A spacious home on the Manukau Harbour with its own beach access, held by native bush. About 45 minutes from central Auckland, and a whole world away.

The living and dining rooms look straight out over the water. The kitchen is large and fully equipped, with a central island, which matters, because we'll spend a lot of our time in it. The doors open onto the waterfront for sunsets, and the beach is a few steps away for swimming, kayaking and slow morning walks.

What We'll Share

Teachings with me. Postpartum care through the classical Ayurvedic lens: sutika paricharya, the first forty-two days, and how we care for a new mother's body, digestion and mind.

Cooking together. We'll prepare devotional Ayurvedic postpartum meals side by side, and we'll be fed three nourishing meals a day by our cook.

Rose chai and cacao. Our circle's warm drinks each day, made the way I make them at home, with recipes to share with the mothers you care for.

Anointing and oiling. We'll care for each other the way we'd care for a new mother, with warm oil and gentle hands. I will be sharing Ayurvedic bodycare practices for carrying a new mother into a deep state of rest.

Postpartum digestive spice blends. Made together, packed up and carried home.

The beach at the door. Swimming, walking, and salt air between gatherings.

A supply gift. A beautiful bundle to take home, to use with your clients or to nourish yourself.

Getting There

Fly into Auckland Airport (AKL). Huia is on the Manukau Harbour, out west where the bush meets the sea, a little under an hour's drive away. I'll run airport pickups on Friday 5 February. Just send me your flight details after you register.

If you can, make more of the trip. February is the best of the New Zealand summer, and I'm happy to share my favourite beaches, places and festivals.

There are spaces for you to park your car at the house if you are traveling in New zealand or are local.
